NOF does not have a standard application form. Applicants are encouraged to write a letter of intent to ascertain whether the Foundation’s current program interests and funding priorities permit consideration of a specific proposal. If the initial response is positive, a detailed proposal would be invited containing the following:
- Background information of the organisation (name, address, history, legal status, principal officers, current activities, and source of funding)
- Brief write-up on the background and context of the issue being addressed by the proposal.
- Overall goal, specific objectives and rationale of proposal.
- Description of the activities to be funded and the methods/approaches that will be utilized.
- Expected results- anticipated outcomes and achievements- including impact on the intended beneficiaries and how this will be ascertained.
- Detailed budget, including expected funds from other sources.
Proposals are considered throughout the year and applicant may expect to receive within a month an initial indication of the interest or non-interest of the Foundation in the proposal. Any legally constituted organisation is eligible to receive a Foundation grant.
Grants are available solely for educational, scientific, and charitable activities as stipulated by Nigerian laws regulating the operation of private philanthropic institutions. Grants are really given to individuals.
All grants are made on the basis of the merit of the proposals and their potential contribution to the achievement of NOF’s program goals.
